How can I get the ECGs into my EMR?
Our PC-based ECG integrates with all EMRs that can import PDF, JPEG or TIFF files, which accounts for nearly all EMRs on the market.  The PDF files are 100K – the same size as the raw ECG file.

If a more direct integration is desired we offer a Developer's Kit free to EMRs that allows the EMR to integrate our software directly into the EMR thus eliminating the need for duplicate patient demographic entry.  This integration option is offered free by us to all EMRs and includes five hours of engineering support and testing.  Since the EMR is "calling" our software, the work must be completed by the EMR.  All we need is a customer to request their EMR to do the integration and then a contact person at the EMR for us to call on; the rest is very straightforward.

How durable is the device? Can it handle the volume of patients we see?
Because the Universal ECG does not have any moving parts it does not require annual maintenance contracts for calibration/servicing. Like any ECG, over time the lead wires will need to be replaced. The lead wires should be handled gently to ensure maximum life is met. The lead wires should not be pulled-on, twisted, wrapped in a ball, or caught in the wheels of a cart.

What kind of printers can I print to?
Most all Windows-compatible printers should work with the Universal ECG.

Can the reports be printed in both portrait and landscape?
All analyzed reports are printed landscape. Printouts of the real-time window can be done in either portrait or landscape.

Can I use a thermal printer?
Only if your Windows-compatible printer handles thermal paper.

Can I print on red graph paper?
You can print using any Windows-compatible printer. For a red grid background it is recommended you use a color printer using plain paper.

Can I connect via a USB port?
Yes, a USB converter adapter is the most common way to connect the Universal ECG to your PC.

How much does the Universal ECG weigh?
280 grams (9.9 ounces).   It is the smallest and lightest ECG on the market.

Can I use suction cups or straps?
Yes, any electrode system will work that connects snugly to the ECG lead wire connectors (4mm “banana” plugs).

Does the Universal ECG meet AAMI standards?
Yes, it complies with the following safety standards: AAMI EC11, IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-1, EC 60601-1-2, and IEC 60601-2-25.

What is the frequency response?
0.05 to 175Hz, +/- 3dB.

Which interpretation program do you use?
The interpretation program developed by Cardionics SA in conjunction with the Catholic University of Louvaine (UCL) in Belgium.

Is the Universal ECG defibrillator protected/recoverable?
Yes.

What is the warranty?
3-year hardware warranty on the device. 1-year warranty on lead wires and PC connection cable.

What if I break a lead wire?
Send the broken cable to a certified QRS Service Center to repair the broken lead wire(s).

Can I fax or email the report?
It is possible with the installation of a Windows-compatible fax or e-mail software such as Fax2000 or WinFax (some fax programs include email support).

Can I edit the interpretation?
Yes, you can edit the interpretation and also add comments for each test.

Can I turn off the interpretation?
Yes.

What measurements do I get with the interpretation program?
The interpretive version of the software makes the following measurements: Heart Rate, P Duration, PR Interval, QRS Duration, QT Interval, QTc Interval, P Axis, QRS Axis, and T Axis. You also get a detailed account of the amplitude, slope, and duration of each lead at the P, Q, R, S and T.

Is there a pediatric interpretation?
No, the interpretative algorithm does not provide a specific pediatric interpretation; however, the algorithm has been validated at ages above 16.

What file format are the ECGs saved in?
They are saved in SCP format. SCP-ECG, Standard communications protocol for computer assisted electrocardiography, is a file format for ECG traces, annotations and metadata. It is defined in the joint ANSI/AAMI standard EC71:2001 and in the CEN standard EN 1064:2005.

Can I clean the device with alcohol?
No, you should only clean the cable with a clean cloth moistened with water. Alcohol will damage the plastic over time and may cause the case to crack.

How long are the ECG recordings?
ECGs can be viewed in real-time for an unlimited period of time. Up to 15 minutes of ECG trace can be paused and reviewed.  Once Save is selected, a 10-second recording is saved and interpreted.

Is the patient isolated?
Patient leads are isolated from system and operator with 4kV protection.

Can the filters be defaulted on?
Yes.

What report types can you print?
3X4 Simultaneous: This is a shows a sample of a simultaneous 2.5 second segment of ECG for all twelve leads on a single sheet in a four channel by three trace format.

3X4 Sequential Report: This shows a sample of a sequential 2.5 second segment of ECG for all twelve leads on a single sheet in a four channel by three trace format.

Average Complexes Report: This shows an average version of the QRS for all twelve leads on a single sheet.

6X1 ECG Report: Shows a ten second trace of each lead spanning two sheets with six leads per sheet.

6X2 ECG Report: Shows a five-second trace of each lead on a single sheet arranged in a 6 trace by 2-column format.

Measurements Report: This is a chart with amplitude, slope and duration data for all twelve leads.
